Times: 5:00pm, 6:00pm and 7:00pm shows

Location: Mill City Museum, 704 2nd Street South

An 'Eventually' Christmas: Holidays at the Mill

Fee: $14 adults, $12 seniors and college students, $10 for children ages 6-17 and MHS members

Reservations required.

This unique theatrical event performed in the museum's Flour Tower elevator ride, features "The Ghost of Mill City Past" guiding an intimate look at the 1920 Washburn Crosby holiday party. The script is based on real stories taken from the pages of the company's employee newspaper. Scenes unfold on different floors of the mill and visitors will meet different characters along the way. Witness the rocky romance of Celia and Otto; meet marketing mastermind Benjamin S. Bull; experience the awesome sweeping power of Bill Smith; and learn the secret origin of the Washburn Crosby marketing slogan, "Eventually-Why Not Now?" This piece is written by playwright Joseph Scrimshaw, directed by Laura Salveson, and stars a cast of professional Twin Cities' actors. Not recommended for children under the age of 8.

December 14, 2013, Saturday - Public Skating at the Metrodome

Time: 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Location: The Dome (both levels)

Rollerdome - Let's Go Skating!

The upper and lower concourses of the Metrodome become the Rollerblade Rollerdome, annually hosting thousands of inline skaters who come to relax, exercise, train, socialize, or just watch others turn endless effortless laps on the roughly half-mile smooth concrete loop. Park your car in the free lot adjacent to Gate D and enter the revolving doors. (Because trapped air is what keeps the Dome domey, trying to use a conventional door will expel you quicker than a sneeze.)

Admission is $6.50 for adults, $5.50 for students, and $4.50 for kids. Optional skate rentals cost an additional $5.00 per pair of well-maintained and up-to-date Rollerblade inline skates. Coat/shoe check and safety gear are free, but neither is mandatory. "Skate at your own risk" signs might intimidate the newbie, but you really couldn't ask for a more forgiving environment in which to learn--a level, debris-free surface, ample elbow room on even the most crowded nights and free skate tips qualified instructors make this the ideal place to take the evolutionary step from plodding flat feet to speedy wheeled wonders.

December 14, 2013, Saturday - Winter Book Publication Party at MCBA

Time: 7:00pm

Location: Minnesota Center for Book Arts, 1011 Washington Avenue South

Minnesota Center for Book Arts is proud to announce the 2013 Winter Book, Minidewak: Readings from Braiding Sweetgrass.

Join us to celebrate the release of Minidewak: Readings from Braiding Sweetgrass, MCBA's 23rd Winter Book! Author Robin Wall Kimmerer will present a reading at 7pm, with a reception to follow.

The twenty-third in MCBA's perennial series celebrating the handmade book, Minidewak will be released on Saturday, December 14 at a celebratory Publication Party at MCBA.

As a botanist and professor of plant ecology, Robin Wall Kimmerer has spent a career learning how to ask questions of nature using the tools of science. As a Potawatomi woman, she learned from elders, family, and history that the Potawatomi consider plants and animals to be our oldest teachers. These two aspects of identity combine in Kimmerer’s latest book of essays, Braiding Sweetgrass, published by Milkweed Editions.
