My First Yoga Class

Victoria Rico, who recently became a contributor on Mill City Times, hosted a Restorative Yoga class at the Zenith last night.  It was part of her ongoing series of complimentary classes to introduce people to yoga - and I can't imagine a better introduction.

This class focused on stretching, awareness and calming.  At the end, I felt as relaxed as I would be after a 90 minute massage.  What a great way to end the day!

While this was an introductory class, several of the women who attended have practiced yoga for quite some time.  It was interesting to hear the positive changes they've experienced through yoga, such as weight loss, improved physique and better eating habits.  When I heard one person say she lost her craving for sweets (not immediately, more like a year into it), I knew I had to get serious about yoga.  Since I started working with Andrea Austin in November, I've changed a number of habits - and it has become crystal clear that my craving for (and submission to) naughty treats is the final hurdle preventing me from reaching my goals.

I'm really stoked to learn more about yoga and start attending classes.  Lucky for me, CorePower Yoga is just a few blocks down the street.
