Graywolf Press Publication Launch with Dobby Gibson
Join us for a public launch of Dobby Gibson’s second collection of poetry, It Becomes You.
Meditative, lyrical, aphoristic, and always served with wry wit, the poems in Dobby Gibson’s It Becomes You explore the divergent conditions by which we’re perpetually defined—the daily weather, the fluctuations of the Dow, the growth of a cancer cell, the politics of the day. What surrounds us becomes us, Gibson suggests, in a book that will ultimately become you.
“Dobby Gibson’s poetry . . . is equal parts tender, triumphant, exhilarating, disturbing, and thought provoking: it’s fantastic.”—The Corresponder.

Nautilus Music Theatre - I am Anne Frank
A music-drama by Enid Futterman and Michael Cohen
featuring Vanessa Gamble as ANNE FRANK
Nautilus Music-Theater presents its award-winning production of I AM ANNE FRANK, the inspiring story of a young girl standing tip-toe on the edge of her future during a time of hatred and intolerance.
This new music-drama by writer Enid Futterman and composer Michael Cohen combines spoken excerpts from Anne's diary with songs that reveal the power of her inner life. Fully faithful to its source material, Anne's famous chronicle of two Jewish families secreted in a cramped garret in Amsterdam during the Nazi occupation is still as suspenseful and moving as ever. Her writing is propelled by an undying faith in the goodness of people. This heartbreaking and ultimately uplifting story stirs our deepest emotions as it insists upon honoring the endurance of the human spirit.
New York critics called Futterman and Cohen's work "A moving, poignant, and in every sense tasteful piece of musical theatre... beautiful, flawless... this is what theater is all about."
Nautilus' production earned rave reviews from critics and audiences alike when it premiered in 2006. The production won a coveted Ivey award, which noted that "the impressive artistic contributions of the talented cast, combined with the matchless vision of the directors, made Nautilus production of I AM ANNE FRANK a stunning collaboration of fine acting, sharp stage direction, effective lighting, and gorgeous music -- a wonderful blend of music and acting, and an innovative way of telling an important story".
This powerful production is intended for mature audiences and especially for young adults. And ticket discounts are available for groups of ten or more -- call 651-298-9913 for more information.
Vanessa Gamble has appeared in numerous Nautilus productions over the last 12 years, including THREE VISITATIONS, INTO THE WOODS, and GOBLIN MARKET, along with many Rough Cuts presentations and Composer-Librettist Studios. She'll be joined by tenor Joel Liestman (recently seen in THE VIEW FROM HERE) and music director Jill Dawe. The production is staged by Nautilus' artistic director Ben Krywosz, with lighting design by Michael Wangen and choreography by JP Fitzgibbons.

Take an in-depth look at the historic Washburn A Mill complex and the award-winning Mill City Museum building on this guided tour. A museum interpreter will take visitors into the building’s many nooks and crannies, highlighting the lives of the men and women who worked there, how the building functioned during its peak flour milling years and the many changes to the building over time. Also covered will be how the mill ruin was converted to a museum and office building.
Although many parts of the A mill can be explored on a self-guided basis during a regular museum visit, this is the only opportunity for a guided tour through the entire museum building, and the only chance to see some of its non-public spaces. The tour includes admission to the museum gallery as well as the Flour Tower show.
