A feuding fairy King and Queen of the forest cross paths with four runaway lovers and a troupe of actors trying to rehearse a play. As their dispute grows, the magical royal couple meddle with mortal lives leading to love triangles, mistaken identities and transformations… with hilarious, but dark consequences.

Shakespeare’s most famous romantic comedy will be captured live from the Bridge Theatre in London. Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones), Oliver Chris (Green Wing, NT Live: Young Marx), David Moorst (NT Live: Allelujah!) and Hammed Animashaun (The Barber Shop Chronicles) lead the cast as Titania, Oberon, Puck and Bottom.

Directed by Nicholas Hytner, this production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream will build on the success of his immersive staging of Julius Caesar (NT Live 2018). The Bridge Theatre will become a forest – a dream world of flying fairies, contagious fogs and moonlight revels, surrounded by a roving audience following the action on foot.

This visceral new production about the limits of power will be directed by Joe Hill-Gibbins, whose previous plays include Little Revolution at the Almeida and Absolute Hell at the National Theatre.

Richard II, King of England, is irresponsible, foolish and vain. His weak leadership sends his kingdom into disarray and his court into uproar. Seeing no other option but to seize power, the ambitious Bolingbroke challenges the throne and the king’s divine right to rule.

Simon Russell Beale returns to National Theatre Live screens following broadcasts of Timon of Athens and King Lear, and his recent role in the National Theatre’s critically acclaimed production of The Lehman Trilogy.

Lop Buckthorn and Build Wildlife Habitat in River Gorge

Join Friends of Mississippi River staff and volunteers for a morning of working along the beautiful Mississippi River on the Minneapolis side of the river gorge This event will take place in the sand flats -- an area of riverside floodplain forest at the north end of FMR's 36th St. Oak Savanna restoration project. Volunteers will have two main tasks: first, they'll lop invasive buckthorn branches to stop another year’s worth of seed from dropping and spreading. Then, using the lopped branches and some larger buckthorn stems, they'll create wildlife habitat piles. These carefully-constructed piles will provide shelter, nesting and foraging areas and protection from predators for wildlife ranging from amphibians and reptiles to small mammals and birds. Together, these tasks will open up habitat for additional native plants and improve the quality of wildlife habitat in the river gorge.

No experience is needed. All tools, gloves and training will be provided. While the work site is on relatively flat terrain, access to the site is only by a steep staircase. Due to tools and access, this event is not suitable for small children. Volunteers may also be asked to help with other restoration tasks as needed throughout the worksite. This event is specifically supported by the local neighborhood group, the Longfellow Community Council, and Longfellow area residents are urged to register! The event is also part of the Gorge Stewards program, which actively engages people throughout the Twin Cities in the stewardship of the national treasure that is the Mississippi River Gorge.

We're back with the 2nd production of "A Cripple's Dance"! We have new material, new collaborators, and a new space to perform in. We're so excited to share this new work with the Twin Cities.

“A Cripple’s Dance” is a live music and dance performance created and performed by people with Spinal Cord Injuries and people with able bodies. The performance began as an expression of Gabriel Rodreick’s desire to dance, move, and reconnect with his body post injury, and has now become a deeper story about how to hold the acceptance of one’s injury and hope for a life beyond one’s injury in the same hand.

Through music, dance, and words, we’ll be telling the story of a longing for deeper breath. The story of care and support, and the involvement of letting/pushing the person who needs care to take risks and face the dangers of life. The story of anger and how it can be used to unearth yourself from oppressive structures. The story of balancing a need for solitude and community. The story of accepting life as it is while simultaneously accepting that you can long and desire for more out of this life. This is the story of a Cripple who wants to Dance.
