March 9, 2017, Thursday - Target Free Thursday Nights at The Walker

Time: 5 PM - 9 PM

Location: The Walker, 725 Vineland Place
Get inspired. Get in free. Gallery admission #AtTheWalker is free from 5 to 9 pm every Thursday night.

Start the weekend early with a healthy dose of art-gazing, people-watching, and activities like a special panel from the Minneapolis Parks Foundation, two films by Charles Atlas, book browsing at our library and drinks at Esker Grove.

The Next Generation of Parks
Walker Cinema, 7pm
Human-centered landscape designer Mark Johnson, co-founder and principal of Denver-based Civitas, presents a powerful perspective on revitalizing urban waterfronts with Minnesota Public Radio’s Stephanie Curtis. Through the Parks Foundation’s RiverFirst initiative to create new parks and trails on the Mississippi Riverfront; the W...alker’s historic wetland restoration in the Sculpture Garden; and MPR’s water initiative the talk will be centered around water. Free tickets available at the Main Lobby desk from 6 pm on.

Two Films by Charles Atlas
Mediatheque, 6:30 pm
Charles Atlas introduces the screening of Locale (1979) and Channels/Inserts (1982), two of his early collaborative films with choreographer Merce Cunningham, shown in conjunction with the exhibition Merce Cunningham: Common Time.

Open Library
Walker Library, 5–9 pm
Usually only accessible by appointment, the Walker Art Center Library will be open to the public this evening. Browse the shelves and take a look at books about your favorite contemporary artist. Selected materials about the history of the Walker will also be on view.

Drinks at Esker Grove
Esker Grove, 5-9 pm
Named a one of the best new restaurants in America by the James Beard Foundation, Esker Grove will have cocktails available for purchase all evening.
