Preserve Minneapolis Morning Forum: Homewood-Minneapolis' Next Historic District

Date: June 28th, 2017
Time: 8 AM to 9 AM
Location: Mill City Museum, 704 S 2nd Street (AMD Room 7th Floor)

Join us for an interesting conversation on one of Minneapolis' great historic neighborhoods. The Homewood subdivision in North Minneapolis offers a rich history of cultural and socioeconomic trends developed in the early twentieth century. The area was originally intended to be a middle class neighborhood and continues this demographic today. The neighborhood features homes with a variety of architectural styles, over-sized lots, and mandatory 35-foot front setbacks. Stone pillars bearing street names give the district a sense of identity and prominence.

Alex Young, architectural intern with Collaborative Design Group, prepared the nomination for the historic district which will likely go before the City Council for approval later this year. He will be present to speak and answer questions about the district.

Coffee and light snacks will be provided and donations are welcome. Parking is available on street in metered stalls or in the parking garage on 2nd Street South.
