July 26, 2017, Wednesday - Siyaasada Maanta "The Politics of Today" opens at the Southern Theater (3 nights)

Time:  July 26, 27 and 28, 7:30pm nightly

Location: Southern Theater, 1420 Washington Avenue South

Siyaasada Maanta "The Politics of Today" premiers at The Souther Theatre!

"This gripping political drama examines the intellectual curiosity of the Somali diaspora and its interpretation of "Siyaasada Maanta," by providing an in-depth look into the lives of young Somali millennials burdened by expectation and duty. Attracted by the promise of a better life and stability, youth migrate from the homeland only to be swallowed by the waves of the sea, the metaphorical equivalent of a life encumbered by finding the balance between love of self and community. Meanwhile, young Somalis in the diaspora return to Somali burdened by their own memories and wounds that have been neglected or overlooked by history. What connections and commonalities do they share? How do they differ? These are "The Politics of Today."
