Jen's Jars at Mill City Farmers Market

I absolutely adore Jen's Jars, a new vendor at the Mill City Farmers Market. These small batch soups and sauces are vegan, gluten-free, and free from refined sugars or preservatives. The woman behind Jen's Jars is Jennifer Alexander. She developed her recipes after adopting a whole food, plant-based diet to benefit her own health.

I like using these products with other items from the Market. For instance, mix the pesto with some Quark from Cosmic Wheel Creamery or Whipped Feta from Singing Hill Goat Dairy for a creamy, zippy veggie dip or sandwich spread. Something on my hit list is a pot pie, using a crust made with flour from Sunrise Flour Mill, and either of Jen's soups as the base for the filling. For example, Curry Feta from Singing Hills would be a perfect cheese to add to the Curried Carrot & Lentil Soup, along with chicken from Sunshine Harvest Farm. The possibilities are endless - use your imagination!

If kept in the refrigerator, Jen’s Jars products will stay fresh for 2 to 5 weeks (check the label at time of purchase). You can also freeze these products directly in the glass jars (they're filled to allow enough room for expansion) and store them for up to 3 months in the freezer.

Added bonus - each empty jar you return gets you $1 of your next purchase.

Find Jen's Jars at these MCFM dates: June 1, 15 and 29, July 13 and 27, August 24 and 31, September 14 and 28.

You can reach Jennifer at or 612-567-9014, and follow Jen's Jars on Facebook
